Automotive Surface Preparation – Engine Bay & Parts

Project Overview

This project involved cleaning and preparing automotive components, including:

  • Engine compartment areas

  • Structural sections of the vehicle

  • Loose metal parts

    The surfaces showed:

    • Rust

    • Old coatings

    • Built-up residue

    Preparation

Parts and work areas were positioned and staged prior to blasting.

    This included:

    • Separating components where needed

    • Placing materials on stable surfaces for access

    Blasting Process

Dustless blasting was used to remove surface material.

    The process combines:

    • Water

    • Abrasive media

This allows for controlled removal of:

    • Rust

    • Paint and coatings

    • Surface contaminants

    Results

    After blasting:

    • Surfaces were cleaned to a consistent finish

    • Rust and coatings were removed

    • Metal surfaces were exposed and ready for next steps

    Project Summary

This type of work is commonly used for:

    • Automotive restoration preparation

    • Cleaning engine compartments

    • Removing coatings and corrosion from metal parts
